1. Who we are
Vocationary is operated by TH Technologies, a trade name of an individual based in Brazil, doing business as Vocationary, who is responsible for your personal information. Contact: [email protected].
2. What we collect
- What you tell us to start: first name, age range and current situation (e.g. high school, college, working).
- Your assessment answers: interests, values, preferences, work style, life goals and things you'd dislike doing — and the scores and profile we create from them.
- Optional birth information: only if you choose the self-reflection layer.
- Contact and account data: your email, full name (if you buy), password (stored only as a secure hash), and whether you agreed to receive emails from us.
- Purchase data: what you bought, amount and order reference. Card details are handled by our payment partner, never by us.
- Security and usage data: IP address, browser/device type, sign-in times and trusted devices — used to protect your account and prevent account sharing.
- Your activity in the app: exploration-plan progress and share links you create.
3. Why we use it
- To run the assessment, save your progress and build your preview and Career Identity Profile (performing our service for you).
- To create and secure your account, deliver what you bought and provide support.
- To send service emails (password links, sign-in codes, receipts). Marketing emails only if you agreed, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- If you start the assessment and don't finish it, up to three reminders with a link to continue where you stopped. Each one has a link to stop them.
- To improve the assessment and our scoring, using aggregated or de-identified data.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and to prevent fraud and abuse.
4. Artificial intelligence
To write parts of your profile in clear, personal language, your answers and draft profile may be processed by an AI provider acting on our instructions. They may not use your data to train their models or for their own purposes. The AI does not make decisions about you — your directions come from our own scoring method.
5. Who we share it with
We share data only with service providers that help us run Vocationary, under contracts that protect it:
- Hosting and database providers (where the app and your data live).
- Email delivery provider (to send your links, codes and receipts).
- AI provider (to personalize the wording of your profile).
- Payment processor (Stripe), which processes payments securely and helps prevent fraud.
- Advertising measurement (Meta): if you allow it, we tell Meta which visits led to a sign-up or purchase so we can measure and improve our ads. Identifiers are sent in hashed form, and never your answers or your profile.
- People you choose — for example, a parent or mentor you send a view-only link to.
- Authorities, when required by law.
We never sell your answers or your profile. Sharing visit and conversion data with Meta for ad measurement may count as “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under some U.S. state laws — you can turn it off anytime with Your privacy choices at the bottom of every page.
6. Cookies and ad measurement
- Essential cookies (always on): keeping you signed in, recognizing your trusted devices, saving your free assessment before you create an account, and remembering who referred you.
- Campaign attribution: when you arrive from an ad or link, we remember its source (for example utm tags) with your assessment, to know which campaigns work.
- Advertising measurement (Meta pixel and Conversions API): in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland it only runs if you accept it. Elsewhere it is on by default and you can turn it off with Your privacy choices at the bottom of every page.
7. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours (for example the United States). When that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as contractual protections required by applicable law.
8. How long we keep it
- Account, profile and purchase data: while your account is active, and afterwards as long as needed for legal, tax and accounting purposes.
- Free assessments that were never purchased: up to 12 months after your last activity, then deleted or anonymized.
- Security logs: up to 12 months.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020, U.S. state privacy laws such as California's, Brazil's LGPD, or the GDPR), you can ask us to: access your data, correct it, delete it, receive a copy, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent (such as for marketing). Email [email protected] — we'll respond within the time the law requires and won't treat you differently for using your rights. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
10. Young people
Vocationary is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. Users aged 13–17 should use Vocationary with a parent or guardian's permission. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
11. Security
Passwords are stored as strong one-way hashes, sessions are protected, new devices are verified by email code, and access to customer data inside our team is restricted and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting you happens, we'll notify you and the authorities as the law requires.
12. Changes
We'll update the date above when this policy changes, and tell you by email about significant changes.
